The Mac App Store isn't for today's Mac developers

One of the reasons the iOS App Store is so successful is that app-buying has become a form of casual, routine entertainment for iPhone and iPad owners. We gladly go and browse the App Store even when we don’t “need” anything at the moment, with the intention of going and spending a few bucks on whatever’s new that looks good.

If we multiply the initial market share for each platform by their increased spending (4x for Mac and 6x for Linux), and adjust to add up to 100%, we get this effective market share: 75% Windows, 20% Mac, 5% Linux

There are no miracles and share of Macs in gaming market is tiny, but I do believe it's bigger than number of published mainstream games would suggest. Hopefully Steam will clear the path.
