Adobe CTO Kevin Lynch: We’re Going To Make The Best Tools In The World For HTML5

Q: How is Adobe going to react to HTML5?
A: I wouldn’t say reacting to HTML5. We see whatever people are using to express themselves. … We’re going to make great tooling for HTML5. We’re going to make the best tools in the world for HTML 5.

I'm looking forward.

The Flash Blog » Apple Slaps Developers In The Face

Personally I will not be giving Apple another cent of my money until there is a leadership change over there. I’ve already moved most of my book, music, and video purchases to Amazon and I will continue to look elsewhere.

Emotional blog post from Adobe's platform evangelist. The news about new iPhone OS policy change overshadowed all other announcements from yesterday's Apple presentation. It's kind of understandable: even Microsoft doesn't prohibit developers to use their language of choice, as long as it compiles to something that their platforms can understand.

Open Access to Content and Applications (Adobe Featured Blogs)

We are ready to enable Flash in the browser on these devices if and when Apple chooses to allow that for its users, but to date we have not had the required cooperation from Apple to make this happen.

The best way for Adobe to save Flash is by killing it - Uncompiled Thoughts

In my opinion, the best way for Adobe to save Flash (the development and authoring environment) is by killing Flash (the plugin), and targeting a HTML5 runtime directly.

Flash CS4 is one of the best authoring environments for designers and illustrators to easily create and animate rich, graphical media on the web. No, it is *the* best. Being able to easily import vector artwork from Illustrator, drag and drop PNGs around, resize things and manipulate them in a WYSIWYG editor, without mucking around in the world of HTML/CSS/Javascript?

Not that I believe that authoring CSS, HTML and JS is easy on a technical level, or that Adobe is likely to give up the advantage of control over its proprietary formats. But maybe that's not such a bad idea, after all.

Building iPad Applications with Flash (Adobe Flash Platform Blog)

We announced the Packager for iPhone at MAX 2009 which will allow Flash developers to create native iPhone applications and will be available in the upcoming version of Flash Pro CS5. This technology enables developers to create applications for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad (though applications will not initially take direct advantage of iPad’s new screen resolution). It is our intent to make it possible for Flash developers to build applications that can take advantage of the increased screen size and resolution of the iPad.

How Adobe is pretending that they have their foot in Apple's doors.
